The Sunset of Going to a Go Go: A Return to the Roots
Going to a Go Go was never meant to be "just another band". It began with a specific, high-end vision: to channel the raw energy of the 60s and 70s —the Stones, the Beatles, Link Wray—and fuse it with the sun-drenched spirit of surf rock.
The ultimate mission was ambitious: to move beyond covers and create original surf music inspired by legends like The Beach Boys and Dick Dale. I wanted to modernize that classic California surf culture and transplant it right here to Florida’s Treasure Coast.
Somewhere along the way, that vision was diluted. Through lineup changes and outside influences, the band drifted toward the path of least resistance. We became a "wedding band." We became an "every other band" band.
The gritty, iconic staples that defined us—tracks like Gimme Shelter, My Generation, and Somebody to Love—were scrubbed in favor of the same generic "dance hits" you hear in every corner bar. When the suggestion was made to cut Fun, Fun, Fun by the Beach Boys, I knew the original soul of Go Go had been lost.
I am officially closing the book on Go Go as it was.
Could Going to a Go Go ever return to the stage?
Perhaps. I would consider reviving the project with a new lineup, provided we return to the original mission: delivering iconic, high-end 60s and 70s hits with zero filler.
However, let me be clear: it happens if, and only if, every member is 100% aligned with the vision. There will be no more compromises on the setlist. We play the classics that matter, or we don’t play at all.
My focus is shifting entirely to writing and recording original music. Think of it as a cross between the vocal harmonies of The Beach Boys and the power-pop crunch of Weezer, all delivered with the swagger of the Rolling Stones.
The new material will stay true to the heart of the coast:
If I find musicians who share this uncompromising vision, fantastic. If not, I’ll forge ahead solo. If the new songs eventually make it to a stage, they won’t be under the GO GO name—that was / is / and always will be a high end cover band, playing a specific genre of music.
I refuse to be part of a project that caters to egos or "plays it safe" to book a wedding gig.
I’m not sure exactly what the future holds, but I know this: I will never be in a wedding band again.
Thank you to everyone who supported the original vision. Stay tuned for what’s coming next.
The tide is turning.
